| Leipzig is the Capital city of the Saxony territory and has been the central hub of the German economic powerhouse of the territory since the Prussian Empire. With the technological development of transportation in the mid 1800 hundreds Leipzig became one of the most important hubs for the development of train transportation, cargo freight and infrastructure. The city's main rail station Bayerischer Bahnhof station is considered the oldest surviving railheads in the old and the longest operation since it's construction in 1842. After the second world war the glory of the Leipzig Bayerischer Bahnhof station lay in ruin and only nearing to the 21st century was the station brought to a modern operating railhead. As of 2000 the Bayerischer Bahnhof station's old brick station is now home to brewery and restaurant Gasthaus & Gosebrauerei Bayerischer Bahnhof. The brewery and restaurant are one of the top rated places to visit in Leipzig. The restaurant makes some of the best food in the city and the brewery some of the highest rated beer in the world and is renown for their Leipziger Gose. The Brewery and Restaurant make more beers than just their world rated Gose. The micro brewery housed in old train station building brews a diverse range years round offerings along with seasonal beers. The master brewer Matthias Richter and assistant brewer Henryk Szymczak do a good deal of innovative brewing along with the traditional and seasonal beers they create at the brewery. Innovating the beer market of Germany using diverse ingredients and brewing beer styles not traditional to the Saxony brewing culture. The brewery will have on tap year round their core range of four lagers and ale, Schaffner, Heizer, Kuppler and Leipziger Gose. A Gose is a style of beer that is traditionally rooted to a small town in the south of the Saxony state of Germany. The style is brewed with near equal proportions wheat and barley malted grains, low amounts of hops providing low amounts of bitterness, additions of spices such as coriander seeds and modernal with additions of salt. Gose style when brewed with the native naturally high mineral and salt content reservoir water present in Saxony gives this style a distinct salty taste. Brewed with a large part of the malt base being wheat malt and fermented in part with a wild souring yeast give the Gose a slightly puckering full mouth feel. The Gose is an interesting style of beer more in the different ways in which it is consumed. Most locals to the Saxony state will drink a Gose from a bar or restaurant split with fruit infused syrups and brandy. Splitting the sour puckering Gose with a sweeter syrup or brandy helps balance out the drinking experience for the consumer. Drinking culture in the Saxony region is an interesting cultural setting. Darker beers are in higher demand locally by female consumers and due to this dark beers are viewed by many local beer drinkers as beer normally drank by women. I only found this out while interviewing the bar staff and restaurant manager about their normal consumer demographics and local consumer beer style demands. While talking to the manager he mentioned the brewery's dark lager beer, Heizer (Stoker) is more heavily ordered by women. The manager contributed the higher demand of their Heizer beer by woman to be due to the beers dark sweet malty and less bitter qualities also due to the culture of the area, where it is a norm for women to order dark beer over other beers styles. Interesting beer culture norms can be found all over the world and understanding their roots in history is an interesting insight into the cultural development of societies and communities. These insights are useful while connecting to people from those societies both in a social sense and a marketing business communication ambition. while planning your trip' to Germany make sure to consider a stop in the Saxony state capital of Leipzig not only for the beers brewed at the Brewery and Restaurant at Bayerischer Bahnhof station but all the other amazing attractions that make Leipzig a top travel destination.
